He refined his sharp artistic skills at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned a master’s degree in painting and sculpture. After graduation, Behrens went to work for the United States Government Printing Office while starting his professional career as an artist. He passed away on April 14, 2014, after a long and fruitful art career.
